2. Fiesta Bowl

Matchup: UCF Knights vs. LSU Tigers

Date: Jan. 1

Location: Glendale, AZ

This is another one of the New Year’s Six Bowl games that is going to deliver a ton of entertainment value to a fan of any program in the nation. Texas football could see a jump in the polls by winning its bowl game and having either of these two teams losing the Fiesta Bowl. That gives an added incentive for Texas football fans to see what happens here.

The Fiesta Bowl had a controversial selection of participants this year. Many fans in the SEC wanted to see the Florida Gators take on the UCF Knights instead of the LSU Tigers. Florida defeated LSU, and most didn’t want to see the defensive struggle that would transpire in the Peach Bowl against the Michigan Wolverines again.

The opportunity to end the winning streak of UCF, and all the Playoff hype that the program drew from its own fan base, has to give LSU fans a lot of excitement. UCF took down its SEC opponent in its New Year’s Six Bowl last year, by knocking off the Auburn Tigers by the final score of 34-27. It can take down another blue blood from the SEC West this year when it faces LSU.

Moreover, one of the premier non-conference opponents that the Horns have lined up for the next decade is LSU. That non-conference matchup against LSU starts as a home-and-home series next year. Texas gets LSU on the Forty Acres in 2019, and has to travel to Baton Rouge, LA, and Tiger Stadium to face them in 2020.
