Most of the action takes place on the Early Signing Day

The installment of the Early Signing Period, which started last year, doesn’t show much of a positive or negative impact yet. There’s some situations in which Power Five programs are put at a disadvantage. But, this also gives some high school and JUCO signees the more opportune and direct path to enrolling early to get a leg up in spring camp.

What the Early Signing Period does for the fans is give two days of a ton of commitment decisions within the span of a few months. The first Early Signing Day and National Signing Day see the most prospects give commitments than really any other day of the year. Plenty of eyes will be glued to ESPN to see what top uncommittted recruits decide on Dec. 19.

Moreover, the first Early Signing Day is the most opportune point for the Texas football recruiting class to fill some holes and bring in any of the remaining uncommitted prospects it wants. There will be a few highly touted prospects that wait until National Signing Day to be locked down, like five-star Santa, Ana, athlete Bru McCoy, but most of the work needs to be completed between Dec. 19 and 21.

Texas is not going to be excluded from the relevance of the amount of prospects that will commit and/or sign the National Letter of Intent on the first day of the Early Signing Period. If the first year of this event was any lesson to the Horns, it should be that it can’t miss out on the significance of the first Early Signing Day.
