Texas Football Recruiting: 3 biggest concerns after Early Signing Day
1. Remaining targets before National Signing Day
With 21 signees set for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class, there’s still a lot of opportunity left to boost the national ranking and fill the holes remaining after the first Early Signing Day. We’ll also get a glimpse at a handful of early enrollees at the outset of spring camp around the same time that National Signing Day rolls around next year.
The decisions of five-star athlete Bru McCoy, four-star Isaiah Hookfin, four-star safety Jalen Catalon, and four-star cornerback Noa Pola-Gates, are still coming in the next two months. This Texas football recruiting class still has a significant amount of time left to win the interests over of some less heavily pursued prospects before the start of the Early Signing Period.
Texas got its hands on some underrated prospects to fill last minute spots left in this class before Dec. 19. That is a solution that could help before National Signing Day comes around at spots like running back and offensive line. Head coach Tom Herman is likely to focus a lot of his recruiting attention on those two needs in the coming months.
Some of the shortcomings of the 2019 recruiting class could also have an impact on where the focuses for the 2020 class take place heading into the off-season. The time for the Horns to add some highly touted commits to the 2020 class is coming very soon. The quest will soon be on for the third straight top 10 ranked recruiting class in the nation for Texas.
