Texas Football Recruiting: 5 early signees who’ll make an instant impact

With the bulk of the commitment and signing announcements in the books from the first Early Signing Day, this Texas football recruiting class is mostly set.

Most of the action that is going to transpire for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class wrapped up on the first day of the Early Signing Period. Of the 22 commits the 2019 Texas football recruiting class, 21 were signed early. Four-star Houston, TX, offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd was left as the only commit to not sign his National Letter of Intent on the Early Signing Day.

The institution of the Early Signing Period last year got mixed reviews depending on who you talk to. The fortunes of each program for the Early Signing Period is very circumstantial. Teams that are going through massive changes to the coaching staff or preparing for a mid-to-late December bowl game tend to have the worst timing set to have a successful Early Signing Period.

Not only do fans of the Texas Longhorns get to see which signees will be enrolling early from this class, there were some big commitment decisions that came through on the first day of the Early Signing Period. The 2019 Texas football recruiting class saw a handful of signees give the intention to enroll early and participate in spring camp.

Although, the number of signees that will be enrolling early from this Texas football recruiting class was a slight bit disappointing. Since the Horns do have a good amount of starter losses on both sides of the ball, having some incoming freshmen on campus early would help out a ton. Texas has eight players that announced intentions to enroll early.
