The two JUCO signees the 2019 Texas football recruiting class hauled in should both see significant playing time as early as the beginning of the 2019 regular season. Up until late November 2018, Texas didn’t have the presence of a single JUCO commit in the 2019 class. A late haul, which included three-star strong-side defensive end Jacoby Jones, is going to do wonders for the Texas defense next year.

Jones was the bigger story of the two JUCO signees in the 2019 Texas football recruiting class. Texas pried him away from the Oklahoma Sooners and got him as an early enrollee. A few of the later commits to this class were former pledges of other programs around the Big 12. Three-star Melissa, TX, wide receiver Kennedy Lewis was a good example of that. Lewis committed on Dec. 18 and was a former member of the TCU Horned Frogs 2019 class.

The losses of the senior defensive end combo of Charles Omenihu and Breckyn Hager is going to hurt the Horns. But, the fact that this class had four signees at defensive end should be able to help fill some of the void left by them for the next two seasons. Adding a talented JUCO signee like Jones is just an added bonus.

This 6-foot-4 and 250 pound strong-side defensive end was the second best at his position among all JUCO prospects in the nation. He was also one of the top 25 2019 JUCO prospects in the nation overall. His consistent motor and strength off the line which he showed off at Butler Community College should be able to stand out in his time on the Forty Acres.
