The highest rated early enrollee for this 2019 Texas football recruiting class at the skill positions has the opportunity to get some starts in the first year of his collegiate career. Four-star wide receiver Jordan Whittington was also the second highest rated signee in this class overall, and his talent should be able to shine through from the first day he steps on campus.

The Texas football recruiting class would be out of the top 10 ranked groups in the nation for the 2019 cycle if not for getting Whittington. The 6-foot-1 and 200 pound wide receiver possesses elite speed and route running ability. He’ll be a solid addition either in the slot or as a deep threat. The combination of Whittington and four-star wideout Jake Smith could also be big for the Horns.

Between what Whittington and freshman former highly touted four-star recruit Brennan Eagles will give the Horns next year, this receiving corps has an extremely bright future. If Texas manages to get either Collin Johnson or Lil’Jordan Humphrey back next year, there’s no telling what the potential for this passing game will be.

Even with the fall that the 2019 Texas football recruiting class saw in the national rankings, and in the Big 12, landing prospects like Whittington show a bright future for this program in previous areas of weakness. The receiving corps is turning the page on the Forty Acres, and Whittington is going to play a key role.
