1. Texas beats the spread again

This is such an intriguing matchup for any college hoops fan, and one that every Texas basketball fan should catch to start the weekend off. Texas gets an opponent that could join it in the NCAA Tournament when the regular season is wrapped up. Providence is also a team that is fundamentally sound and plays a style similar to the Horns.

Although, the concern for Texas fans will continue to be the letdown that we all witnessed against VCU and Radford. Texas is able to rise to the occasion this season it seems if the opponent is a ranked team, or from a major conference. It underestimated the likes of the Highlanders to the detriment of the worst loss of the regular season so far.

However, the good sign that came from the Horns in the 38-point victory over the Antelopes was the ability to play a full 40 minutes of solid basketball. Texas trounced the Antelopes to a nearly equal degree in the first and second half. That was a pretty new feeling for this team, outside of the convincing win against The Citadel on Nov. 16.

Even in the wins this season where Texas faced vastly inferior competition, some did not come easy. The wins over the Eastern Illinois Panthers and Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks proved that fact early on. If Texas is able to beat a 9.5-point spread against an opponent like Providence, it will prove that this team got the upset monkey off its back when it enters as the favorite.
