The list can go on and on for the recruiting rivalries between the Horns and the Texas A&M Aggies. Although the Lone Star Showdown hasn’t been played on the field since the 2011 season, the rivalry on the recruiting trail hasn’t skipped a beat. For this recruiting cycle, the Aggies look to be the team in the state of Texas that will emerge victorious in the national class rankings.

Texas A&M struck big with its 2019 recruiting class. Giving former Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher a full recruiting cycle to pull together a quality class paid dividends for the Aggies. Texas A&M has a top five rated 2019 recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports Team Composite Rankings.

One player that got caught up in the recruiting rivalry between the 2019 Texas football recruiting class and that for the Aggies was an elite in-state defensive tackle prospect. Five-star Judson High School and Converse, TX, defensive tackle DeMarvin Leal went back and forth between the Aggies and Horns for his commitment decision.

Following what appeared to be a very impactful official visit for Leal to College Station, TX, back in April, he gave his commitment to the Aggies. Leal signed his National Letter of Intent with the Aggies on the first Early Signing Day to make it official that he would not be able to get pried away by the Horns.
