How will the former Longhorn standout forward Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors do against LeBron James and the LA Lakers on Christmas Day?

The biggest showdown, and the most intriguing, for the NBA on Christmas Day involves a former Texas Longhorns basketball standout and one of the best player’s in the world. This former Texas basketball standout, Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, finds himself in a showdown on the national stage for the NBA on Christmas Day against Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James.

The NBA on Christmas Day has become a mainstay of the sport, and for basketball fans across the country on Dec. 25. On Christmas Day 2018, the NBA has five games in a row aired on national television on ESPN. It all starts at noon E.T. with Kristaps Porzingis and the New York Knicks battling Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Moreover, the rest of the slate on Christmas Day features some very impactful matchups to the playoff picture in both conferences. The Oklahoma City Thunder are set to battle the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers look to top the Boston Celtics. We will get to see a host of NBA stars on Christmas Day taking the floor on ESPN including point guard Russell Westbrook, shooting guard James Harden, and center Joel Embiid.

While Dec. 25 delivered a lot of action in year’s past, this is one of the better slates that we will ever see. A set of five games that can keep NBA fans entertained from noon all the way through midnight is an awesome option for a day that is otherwise void of action in the world of sports.

However, in terms of the relevance of this slate to Kevin Durant and the Warriors, the opportunity to gain a tighter grasp on the Western Conference looms large. The Lakers are one of a number of roadblocks to yet another NBA Title for the Warriors.

And, Kevin Durant is looking to continue his quest to win his second NBA MVP honors. He is averaging 29.0 points per game this season, and scored at least 20 points in his last seven games. Durant is providing Golden State a spark so that the team can continue to get back on track after a disappointing 23-11 start to the first 34 games of the regular season.

The Lakers had an up and down start to the season, but sit on the edge of the playoff picture in the West right now with a 19-14 record. James is leading the way for the Lakers and looking to win his first MVP honors playing in the Western Conference.
