5 early potential landing spots for Kevin Durant in 2019 NBA Offseason
1. Denver Nuggets
Practical Cap Space in 2019: $-11 million
Who would guess that the Denver Nuggets were the biggest challenger in the Western Conference as of Dec. 27. Up until Dec. 26, the Nuggets were actually the top team in the West in terms of winning percentage. The Warriors slipped up a bit within the past month, with a swirl of off-the-court issues and injuries.
All indications now show that Golden State is starting to take control of the West again. The Nuggets should remain strong challenges to the Warriors in the West for the rest of the regular season. Denver just has too much talent to fade down the stretch. That also has to be an attractive destination for Kevin Durant to wind up in.
This has to be a great place for Durant to land, with how much is working for the Nuggets this season. Denver has two quickly rising stars in the making in center Nikola Jokic and shooting guard Jamal Murray. Jokic and Murray are combining to average more than 35.0 points per game. Durant could add another dynamic to form one of the best trios in the NBA.
How the Nuggets fair down the stretch is going to play a large role in determining how Durant feels about them entering the offseason. However, this wouldn’t be the first time that Durant joined the biggest challenger in the West in a year where he was looking to leave his current team. Thunder fans know that storyline all too well.
