What is the current status of the decision for the 2019 NFL Draft for the star Texas football wide receivers Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey?

What would the top two wide receivers for Texas football, juniors Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey, need to do against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl to prove their worth for the 2019 NFL Draft? The answer to that question, mainly for fans of the Texas football program, is more complicated than it may appear.

Johnson and Humphrey have a huge looming decision as to whether they should declare one year early for the 2019 NFL Draft. Most of this looming decision seems to ride on the 2019 NFL Draft stock of each player exiting the Sugar Bowl, and what the outlook is for the Texas football program next season. The latter seems to be less important to most than the current standing of each player’s draft stock.

Declaring early for the NFL Draft is something that is becoming more and more common for player’s that have a few grades as early round selections, like Johnson and Humphrey. The injury risk for wide receivers, especially with the usage levels and high-paced offenses of the Big 12, can be great, and getting the shot to jump to the NFL one year early can be a very attractive opportunity.

Moreover, the discussion of each position and each class of prospects entering the 2019 NFL Draft is really heating up with the NFL sitting in the final week of the 2018 regular season. Johnson and Humphrey are in the thick of that discussion.

Here’s a deeper look into what the two standout junior wideouts for the Texas Longhorns, Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey, bring to the table and whether they should declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.
