1. Opportunity to build a winning streak

The first three Big 12 games on the slate for Texas basketball this season were crucial to keeping the resume for the NCAA Tournament respectable. Things didn’t start off easy with the defensive juggernaut that is Kansas State. West Virginia is a well-coached team that is never an easy out even though it seems like a down season for that program by usual standards.

Up next for the Horns is also a team that can be difficult, but should present a winnable game. Texas has the talent to be one of the top three teams in the Big 12 this year. But, it will need to continue the winning ways by taking care of business against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

At this point, Texas basketball and Oklahoma State are headed in opposite directions in the Big 12. Oklahoma State did give the Oklahoma Sooners and Iowa State Cyclones a tough test, but head coach Mike Boynton’s squad is the only one with a losing record in the Big 12 this season. Texas has to keep the momentum rolling against an inferior opponent like that of the Pokes.

The three-game winning streak that the Horns already have built could continue so that this team can potentially crack the AP Top 25 for the first time since the end of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. The quick response from this squad is impressive but needs to continue so that the full potential of the rotation can be fulfilled during Big 12 play.
