Texas Football Recruiting: Horns want 2020 UCLA target RB Bijan Robinson
The search is on for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class to help fill the looming hole at running back, and it could be with 4-star Bijan Robinson.
The market for some of the top running backs for the 2020 recruiting cycle is really starting to heat up in the past few weeks, especially as it relates to the Texas football recruiting class. Some of the latest news to drop for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class was the offer sent to talented Salpointe Catholic running back Bijan Robinson.
This Tucson, AZ, native is mainly getting interest from PAC-12 schools. But, the offer sheet for Robinson is quickly becoming one of the more loaded among the 2020 high school running backs. His offer from the 2020 Texas football recruiting class now pushes him past 15 early on in his recruitment.
Some other significant programs to note that also sent offers to Robinson include the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and USC Trojans. And, the other two Big 12 programs to offer Robinson outside of the 2020 Texas football recruiting class include the Oklahoma Sooners and Kansas State Wildcats.
However, the program that seems to be the front runner to land the commitment from Robinson at this point appears to be the UCLA Bruins. According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, Robinson is nearly guaranteed to wind up with the Bruins. UCLA head coach Chip Kelly is making a big push to get the running back that can take his offense to the next level.
Rivals FutureCast doesn’t have any predictions for Robinson yet, but the FanCast does have USC as the favorite to land him. However, it does seem like the Arizona native is looking to stay in PAC-12 country. His most recent visit, back in October 2018, was to UCLA. Not much has happened in the way of visits from him since then.
If Robinson hasn’t committed somewhere before the start of the 2019 regular season, he could be looking more into visits with something like Texas football recruiting. The PAC-12 programs are still likely to play a prominent role in Robinson’s recruitment, but the Texas Longhorns should definitely be able to sway some of his interest toward the Forty Acres.
This 6-foot-0 and 200 pound running back is going to continue to gain interest from some of the top programs in the nation. He’s rated as the nation’s 39th best 2020 high school prospect and the sixth best running back.
And, considering the Horns need a lot of help at the running back position moving forward, adding someone like Robinson to the mix would be a massive get. Robinson has solid speed for his size and is able to run through the tackles with a level of pop that is hard to come by for how agile he is.
The 2020 Texas football recruiting class isn’t just going to stumble by a prospect like Robinson each and every day. Prying him away from the clutches of Chip Kelly and the Bruins is a key to boost this 2020 class for the Horns.
