Cumulative landing spot for Longhorns in 2019

We’re not going to average the way-too-early top 25 rankings for 2019 to find where the Horns should be placed among all the prominent national pundits. However, the commonality seems to put the Horns in the top 10. At the very least, Texas football should hover around the No. 11-13 spot in the AP Poll and Coaches Poll to kick-off the 2019 season.

Hook’em Headlines finds it sensible that the Horns ring in at No. 8 for the way-too-early ranking. Tempered expectations for the Horns for next season are going to be hard to come by this off-season. The hype train is going to take off in full force as the long college football off-season is about to take hold.

A few ways the Horns can build toward having some credibility and merit to a top 10 preseason ranking for the 2019 campaign is limiting injuries in spring and fall camp and doing well to add a few more impact players through the recruiting trail and transfer market. The Horns could use some upgrades along the offensive line and at running back.

Texas is likely to return more than a dozen starters on both sides of the ball, depending on what happens with a few looming 2019 NFL Draft decisions. The backing is there for the Horns to get a lot of hype heading into 2019, especially since a 10-win campaign brought them to national prominence for the first time since 2009.
