Of course the final player on this list had to be the one that the Horns are losing for the 2019 campaign. With junior safety Brandon Jones set to return to the Forty Acres for his final year of eligibility, there is only one of four players that were figured to possibly enter the upcoming NFL Draft that won’t be coming back.

It was figured that the Horns were likely to lose either one, or both, of the standout junior wide receivers that boost the passing game this year. The sizable and athletic outside receiver Collin Johnson decided to return to the Forty Acres for his senior season, but the breakout star Lil’Jordan Humphrey decided to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

This will be difficult for the Texas offense to swallow losing its only 1,000-yard receiver of 2018. But, Johnson wasn’t too far off getting to the 1,000-yard receiving mark himself. Johnson was just 15-receiving yards shy of reaching 1,000 for the season for the first time in his career. Humphrey also led the Horns in catches and receiving touchdowns.

Johnson returning for the Horns helps to mitigate the loss of Humphrey a bit, but it will be a hit to the Texas receiving corps whatever way you look at it. Humphrey was a pivotal part of the rise of the Texas offense this season and his absence will be felt. We hope for the best and that he is taken in the early rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft.
