One of the most valuable prospects in the NCAA Transfer Portal right now is the talented Texas football freshman quarterback Cameron Rising.

The quarterback room looks to be thinning out a bit for the Texas football program this off-season. The first bit of headlines to drop that involved any Texas football quarterbacks was the transfer intentions of the pair of talented true freshman Casey Thompson and Cameron Rising.

Thompson and Rising slotted their names into the NCAA Transfer Portal even before the off-season came around for the Texas football program. It’s clear that they wanted to explore their transfer options if not leave he Forty Acres altogether during the off-season.

According to reports from 247Sports, Rising went on a visit with the Utah Utes football program on Jan. 11. That comes a little more than two weeks after Rising reportedly originally put his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Utah is a bit closer to home for Rising, who hails from the region more relevant to PAC-12 recruiting territory.

With the NCAA Transfer Portal becoming such an impactful part of the early portion of the college football off-season, the quarterback scene next year could be vastly different. The NCAA Transfer Portal is also completely changing how quarterbacks are recruited and retained during the off-season. There’s no telling what could happen throughout the rest of the off-season too.

More visits could be on the horizon for Rising as he continues to explore all of the transfer options available to him. He could wind up back on the Forty Acres with the Texas football program, but that looks to be unlikely at this point.

Here’s a look at the five best potential landing spots for the talented freshman Texas Longhorns quarterback Cameron Rising if he does decide to depart the Forty Acres this off-season.
