We’re going to go ahead and slot an asterisk next to the name of five-star elite cornerback Dwight McGlothern since his recruitment breakdown and commitment decision seems to be up in the air at best. According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, McGlothern is a favorite to land in College Station, with the LSU Tigers coming in second.

McGlothern is a very talented in-state prospect that would be a massive add to the Horns secondary. But, to state that his interest is swayed in a dozen different directions doesn’t really begin to describe following his recruitment. Between two announcements of decision dates with nothing to show and a lot of back and forth on his Twitter timeline, no one really knows where McGlothern’s head is at.

However, head coach Tom Herman needs to remain steady in the pursuit of McGlothern. If he did make one thing clear, it’s that attention and pursuit are important factors for the ultimate commitment decision and signing. Defensive coordinator Todd Orlando would really love to have the addition to the secondary of someone like McGlothern.

There might not be a single level of the defense, or any position group on the offensive side of the ball, that the Horns recruited better than the defensive backfield in the last three cycles. The one thing the Horns were void of in the secondary recruitment is a five-star cornerback. This 6-foot-2 and 180 pound cornerback has the skill set to be a next level player early on.
