The running back position is going to be an important need in the 2020 Texas football recruiting class, much like it was for the 2019 cycle. While the Horns don’t necessarily need to land an elite prospect at running back, that never hurts. An initial direction the Horns could turn to recruit heavily at running back is five-star California native prospect Kendall Milton.

There are two elite running back prospects the Horns are after for the 2020 class. Hauling in either one of them would make an immediate impact on the ground game for the 2020 season. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Milton is one of the larger running backs among the four and five-star prospects in this cycle. His ceiling is seriously high and he is very powerful running up the middle.

Getting what essentially would be a boosted version of sophomore running back Daniel Young would add a whole other dynamic to the stable of running backs for Herman and offensive coordinator Tim Beck. Running back depth is pivotal to making this Herman and Beck offensive scheme successful year in and year out.

There’s a host of teams going after Milton, which is why it’s imperative that the Horns target him early on if there’s any shot of him coming to the Forty Acres. The unfortunate part is that Milton seems destined to wind up with the USC Trojans if he stays in-state, or go with head coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide if he leaves California.
