What Texas lost to the NCAA Transfer Portal

The Horns are going to lose some of the depth it was projected to have heading into the 2019 season in the quarterback room whatever happens. Freshman quarterback Cameron Rising already reportedly put his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal and had a visit with the Utah Utes on Jan. 11.

The other big loss for the Horns so far to the NCAA Transfer Portal at quarterback is freshman Casey Thompson. Both of the four-star quarterback signees in the 2018 Texas football recruiting class put their names on the NCAA Transfer Portal even before the Allstate Sugar Bowl against the Georgia Bulldogs kicked off.

With the potential losses of Thompson and Rising in mind, the QB room for the Horns could be much thinner next season. And, if the quarterback transfer rumors for junior Shane Buechele prove to be true this off-season the Horns will be really thin on depth behind rising junior Sam Ehlinger for the 2019 season.

A few of the other key losses for the Horns to transfer this off-season mainly came at running back from sophomore Toneil Carter and junior Kyle Porter. Texas could be much thinner in the backfield in general next season if all of these players that intend to transfer do wind up leaving the Forty Acres this off-season.
