Texas Football Recruiting: 3 most important 2019 targets for February
By Shane Black
After missing out on stud running backs Cain and Sanders, Herman and Stan Drayton should make a strong push for Katy High School running back Deondrick Glass.
The Longhorn backfield is losing Tre Watson (graduate) and Toniel Carter (transfer) after this season. That leaves them with Ingram, Daniel Young, Kyle Porter, and Derrian Brown. Definitely not a shabby running back room, but you can never have too many backs at the college ranks.
This is why Herman and Co. should prioritize Glass over the next seven weeks.
Glass is the 12th ranked running back, according to 247Sports. He was an absolute workhorse in high school, carrying the ball 673 times for 6154 yards and 100 touchdowns.
ESPN Recruiting’s bottom line on Glass says he is a “productive back with a good combination of strength and speed. Would be higher up our board with a bit more elusiveness.”
All eight crystal ball projections have Glass signing with Oklahoma State, however, universities like Texas will be all over him before the February signing period.
Should Glass end up on the forty acres, he would immediately challenge for snaps in the backfield.
