Of the nine early enrollees from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class, potentially the fastest rising in terms of hype and excitement is four-star Westlake inside linebacker De’Gabriel Floyd. As a standout at the Under Armour All-America Game last week, Floyd proved himself on the national stage and gave himself some momentum coming onto the Forty Acres.

Moreover, there is a lot of roster turnover at linebacker and ample opportunity for some of the more talented Horns signees to make an early impact. Spring camp is going to be showtime for the incoming linebackers from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class to earn some early playing time for the 2019 regular season.

The starting linebackers, set to replace departing seniors Gary Johnson and Anthony Wheeler, could be any number of players outside of rising senior Malcolm Roach. Floyd will join a group that also includes returning players like Ayodele Adeoye, Jeffrey McCulloch, Joe Ossai, that will be looking to earn a starting spot alongside Roach.

Floyd ranks as a top 65 2019 high school prospect in the nation and the fourth best inside linebacker. At 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds, Floyd is going to be able to show off his impressive speed and athleticism combined with a hard hitting and sure-tackling ability that could make him a very special linebacker for the Horns as early as this fall.
