3. Collin Johnson becomes the Big 12’s best wide receiver

The Big 12 usually is one of the nation’s most loaded conferences at the wide receiver position. Posting similar, if not more, strength than it did during the 2018 campaign at the position shouldn’t be the least bit surprising. The Big 12 brings back a loaded group of talent at wide receiver that could feature numerous All-Americans in 2019.

Texas football will definitely hold up its end of the bargain in terms of pitching wide receiver talent to boast the Big 12 on the national stage. The best that the Horns have to offer at wide receiver decided to forego the 2019 NFL Draft and return for his senior season. Collin Johnson is looking to snag the first 1,000 receiving yard season of his career.

In Week 2, Johnson and the Horns will get the opportunity to show out against a secondary with next level talent with the LSU Tigers. For the past two years, it seems as if the Horns slated at least one marquee non-conference matchup early in the regular season. For the next two seasons, that will be a home and home series with LSU, which is a juicy opportunity for Johnson to show how good he can be against top talent.

Johnson was just 15 yards shy of getting to that elusive 1,000 yard mark that eluded him in the three previous years of his collegiate career. He not only has the burden, and motivation, of helping the Horns contend for a Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff berth in 2019, he’s also looking to prove his worth to scouts for the 2020 NFL Draft.
