4. Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey were everything we wanted

Getting some part of the receiving corps for Texas football to step up and finally standout came to the forefront in 2018. Texas football didn’t get the valuable contributions it needed from a talented group of wide receivers that it needed to make the passing game run efficiently for a long time. It was at least four or five seasons since the Texas receiving corps was legitimately something worth boasting.

However, that narrative all shifted during the 2018 campaign under a completely revamped passing game. Getting a duo that combined for more than 2,000 receiving yards and 18 total touchdowns is something very few teams in the nation ever have. Texas might not have that presence entering the 2019 regular season either.

The source of the passing game success can be set to three players. Two of those three players are set to return to the Forty Acres in 2019. The Texas quarterback had a number of weapons to look at in the passing game, namely junior wide receivers Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Fellow junior wideout Devin Duvernay and senior tight end Andrew Beck also had career years.

But, anything that any other receiver did for the Horns outside of Humphrey and Johnson just paled in comparison statistically. Humphrey and Johnson were the statistical leaders for this team in the receiving game this year. With Humphrey set to enter the 2019 NFL Draft, someone will need to step up alongside Johnson to replace his 2018 production.
