2. Oklahoma Sooners

A key indicator of where a player could wind up after transferring from somewhere like the Texas football programs is where recruiting offers and interest came from. All three of the potential transfer destinations for Thompson on this list were programs that offered him out of high school. Only one was a big-time in-state blue blood that could win over his attention now, though.

If Thompson hadn’t picked the Horns during the 2018 recruiting cycle, the Oklahoma Sooners looked like his next best choice. Now, Thompson has the opportunity to take advantage of a tumultuous situation in the Oklahoma quarterback room following the declaration of Heisman-winning superstar Kyler Murray to the 2019 NFL Draft.

Whatever happens for head coach Lincoln Riley in regard to the Oklahoma starting quarterback job this year, Thompson could wait it out and likely learn from a talented player. As of this moment, Riley seems to have some traction with the former Alabam quarterback Jalen Hurts and the talented former Ohio State rising sophomore Tate Martell.

The final set of 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions has Thompson at a 93 percent chance to commit to Texas football. Oklahoma was in second place in the running for his commitment, but only at a seven percent chance. Oklahoma has to be on Thompson’s mind as a place to visit and potentially transfer to this off-season.
