1. 15-yard touchdown catch vs. Oklahoma

Date: Oct. 6

Of the three touchdown catches on this list, this one in the win for Texas football over the Oklahoma Sooners was the least impressive in the moment. It went for the least yards and required the lowest amount of effort from Humphrey. But, it did help Humphrey round out this game with more than 130 receiving yards and one score.

What made this touchdown catch so special was the stage it came on, against the Horns biggest rival in the Red River Showdown. This was not just a memorable outing for Humphrey, it was a game that Texas football fans won’t forget for a long time. Texas was able to oust Heisman-winning Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and his squad for the first time since 2016. This win also vaulted the Horns into the top 10 rankings in both polls.

The only touchdown catch in a big game for Humphrey against a hapless Oklahoma secondary came on a wide open route where Ehlinger hit him for the 15-yard score. Humphrey was able to catch the ball over the top of the Oklahoma defensive back and jog into the end zone at the most dominant point of the game for the Horns.

This touchdown catch was more important than just extending the Texas lead at the time in the Red River Showdown to 45-24 over Oklahoma. It symbolized the impact Humphrey had for the Texas passing game this past season. His breakthrough was one of the factors that helped push the Horns to double-digit wins, and the Red River victory might not have happened without his efforts on Oct. 6.
