1. Leading the way to Big 12 Title and CFP appearance

The logical next steps for Texas football for the 2019 season are at least slightly surpassing the accomplishments realized in Herman’s second year in 2018. Herman had a laundry list of accomplishments during the year that was 2018, and so did Ehlinger.

For Herman, racking up double-digit wins, a New Year’s Six Bowl victory, Big 12 Title Game appearance, winning the Red River Showdown, and having the best record since the 2009 season were just a few of the major accolades in 2018.

For Ehlinger, he played a huge part in the Red River win over the Oklahoma Sooners during the regular season. He also won the Sugar Bowl MVP, Player of the Week honors a few times, top 10 Heisman odds for 2019, and the single season rushing touchdown record for the Horns, encompassing some of the bigger accolades in 2018-19.

Some of the way-too-early top 25 rankings and College Football Playoff Predictions have the Horns in the top 10 and in the four-team field. Getting past Oklahoma is the main task at hand for Ehlinger and the Horns to get to the brink that would be Playoff contention this coming season.

Ehlinger also should have the goal of winning the program’s first Big 12 Championship since 2009. He was just one good quarter of football away from beating the Sooners twice in one year and getting the Big 12 Title back on the Forty Acres.
