With few running back targets left unsigned for the 2019 recruiting cycle, is there anything this Texas football recruiting class can do before NSD?

This late in the cycle for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class, the key positional needs aren’t likely to all be filled across the board. What this Texas football recruiting class can do is add one or two more commits to help fill some amount of depth in a few of the areas of need.

The two biggest areas of need for the Horns at this point in the recruiting cycle are offensive line and running back. Texas needs help all over the place along the offensive line, as there’s some uncertainty as to if one of the three offensive tackle commits will actually stay with them through National Signing Day, on Feb. 6.

However, the Horns missed on some of the more notable running back targets it had for this recruiting cycle. The Texas football recruiting class fell short of some skilled running back targets, including JUCO three-star Rhamondre Stevenson and the nation’s top high school rusher Trey Sanders, before the Early Signing Period wrapped up last month.

The time is not over yet for this Texas football recruiting class to add some type of depth to the running back room before Feb. 6. Whether it be something as under-the-radar as adding a preferred walk-on, or nabbing a pretty highly touted high school prospect, this position needs a boost somewhere this off-season.

Here’s a look at the three running back prospects the Texas Longhorns can target on the recruiting trail very late in the cycle before National Signing Day next month.
