5. Courtney Ramey scores in the double digits

One of the key players off the bench that needs to stand out for Texas basketball in a game like this is the talented true freshman point guard Courtney Ramey.

After a big outing in the disappointing two-point road loss to the Kansas Jayhawks, Ramey had a letdown of a game against the Sooners. Even though he got the start against Oklahoma, Ramey couldn’t get his field goal percentage above 20 percent for the first time in a while. In fact, he was held off the score sheet completely with zero points.

To say that Ramey was streaky so far this season is an understatement. Ramey played that way through most of the regular season, though.

However, the 6-foot-3 and 185 St. Louis, MO, native point guard is looking to finally put it all together at a defining stretch of Big 12 play. The flashes are there, and he’s got all the tools necessary to be a standout point guard in this league. We just need to get more of the Ramey we saw in the loss to Kansas and the win against The Citadel and less of the one we saw in the win over Oklahoma and the loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Ramey goes through streaks this season of hot and cold that doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The final three games of the non-conference slate saw him score in the double-digits. The Horns need that kind of Ramey to show up against TCU and not the one the team saw in Red River.
