3. Texas gets at least 20 assists

On four occasions this season, Texas basketball racked up at least 20 assists in a single game. The season-high in assists in an individual game for the Horns came in the home win over the Grand Canyon Antelopes, with 22. However, the Horns were pretty abysmal to start Big 12 play in the assist department.

In the wins over Oklahoma and the West Virginia Mountaineers and the loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, the Horns posted assists in the single-digits. So far this season, assists mostly correlated with victories for head Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart. Even the loss to Kansas was one of the better offensive efforts for this team thus far and saw them post one of the better assists totals in one game, with 19.

What the Horns need to do now is just get more consistent in regard to moving the ball around. Distribution was the name of the game at times for the Horns this season. When the ball is spread around the outside at a good pace, and players like sophomore point guard Matt Coleman, sophomore wing Jase Febres, and senior shooting guard Kerwin Roach Jr. are hitting their shots, the assists tally up in the blink of an eye.

However, the Horns are very inconsistent with the ball movement this season. That mainly touches back to the lack of offensive identity for this team under Smart in the last four seasons. TCU is a very stout defensive team, especially on home court, so the ball movement is key for the Horns in this game.
