Of all the potential linemen prospects for Texas football to pursue this off-season, the most experienced would be the former Virginia Cavaliers standout center R.J. Proctor. That ability to come in and and fill a positional need quickly is something Proctor can do.

Comparing Proctor to someone like Unije brings a world of experience as a key difference. Proctor started more than 20 game in his collegiate career in Charlottesville, VA. Meanwhile, someone like Unije is yet to make a single start at the Division 1 level. That’s where Proctor has the known ability to make an instant impact for the Horns.

A lot of who Herman and the Horns coaching staff will look to bring in to possibly fill some needs along the offensive line depends on what exact traits they’re looking for. Someone like Proctor would bring solidified experience and leadership, but he doesn’t have a very high ceiling or much time left before his eligibility runs out.

Texas football does seem to be gaining an early lead in the pursuit of Proctor’s commitment as a graduate transfer candidate. Bleacher Report predicted Proctor to land on the Forty Acres when it’s all said and done.

If the Horns do land Proctor, he would be immediately eligible to come in and make a difference, similar to what the former Rice Owls offensive tackle Calvin Anderson did for them in 2018. In any case, you can view the entire list of known players on the transfer market here.
