Some interesting news came about pertaining to the 2019 Texas football recruiting class as five-star athlete Bru McCoy could leave USC soon.

The 2019 Texas football recruiting class missed out on one of its big time targets for this cycle following the Early Signing Period when five-star Santa Ana, CA, athlete Bru McCoy chose the USC Trojans. The only potential five-star commit, at the time he gave his pledge to USC, was seemingly lost a few weeks back.

The final 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions released before McCoy announced his commitment and signing with USC had Texas football second in line to nab him. But, the national media correctly favored (at least at first) the in-state blue blood program McCoy was a life-long fan of. But, the narrative could be changing between McCoy and USC at this moment.

FanSided’s USC fan site Reign of Troy released a piece about the potential transfer of McCoy to the Texas football amid a host of rumors since he signed with the program.

The original backing to the rumors swirling about the interest between Texas football and McCoy came from a report by Adam Maya of Rivals USC. Maya’s Twitter timeline was the site of the news that broke about this potential transfer situation for the Trojans.

Larry Brown Sports also released a piece about all the news and rumors swirling regarding McCoy’s transfer situation. Texas football would be the benefactor of this detriment to the USC football program if the growing rumors prove to become a reality.

The point here is that Texas football could finally be in store for some good news on the transfer market for the first time in a while this off-season. Most of the news that came the way of the Texas Longhorns so far concerning the transfer market and NCAA Transfer Portal was detrimental to the 2019 roster. Quarterback and running back are two particular areas of concern with how much depth was lost to the NCAA Transfer Portal thus far.

This would be a tough situation for USC to run into at this point of the off-season. Between all the coaching instability and the transfer market putting the program’s depth in flux, McCoy’s intentions to leave USC does have some legitimate backing to it.

Moreover, these are some busy times for McCoy as he was given one of the nation’s top honors for a high school player on Jan. 23. McCoy received the Offensive National Player of the Year at the high school level from Maxwell Football.

He didn’t do much to contrive all of these turbulent news cycles for the Trojans, but his transfer won’t help any of the stability in the locker room for USC anytime soon. USC needed an injection of talent to help the program rise back to prominence and a resptectable level of competitiveness in the PAC-12 for the 2019 campaign.

Now, one of its top signees in recent memory could be headed to the Texas football program and the Forty Acres in 2019. Not much has worked out well for USC in relevance to the Big 12 this off-season.

The saga between USC and the Big 12 started when it brought former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Kliff Kingsbury aboard as the offensive coordinator. Kingsbury quickly darted for an NFL job, causing a lot of friction between him and the Trojans. He is now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. And, this is all capped off to end the month of January with McCoy potentially leaving USC to go to the Forty Acres soon.
