What Bru McCoy brings to the 2019 Texas recruiting class

This 2019 Texas football recruiting class came into Jan. 24 with a No. 5 slot in the national class rankings, per 247Sports. A few key ratings bumps for some of the more recognized signees in this 2019 Texas football recruiting class saw them get a serious jump in the national class rankings within the past 24 hours.

If Texas football were to add a commitment from McCoy to its 2019 recruiting class, it would shoot up in the national rankings at least one or two spots. Max Olson reported that if the Horns were to land McCoy, this 2019 recruiting would vault over the rival Oklahoma Sooners and Texas A&M Aggies to the nation’s No. 3 slot.

Not only would that be big for the Horns to claim its second consecutive No. 3 class in the nation, passing up its two biggest rivals all in one swoop would be a huge added bonus. The only teams it would be ranked behind at that point would be the top two out of the SEC with the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.

Beyond what he would bring in terms of recruiting rankings, McCoy would add a very unique dynamic for the Horns with this incoming freshmen class. McCoy is ranked as the nation’s top athlete and ninth overall 2019 high school prospect. He’s even one of the top 200 ranked high school prospects in the history of 247Sports recruiting rankings. He would be the best wide receiver, or one of the most potent defensive players in this class, depending on which position and side of the ball he chooses.
