Where Texas goes from here

With news like this, there is only one direction that the Texas football program can go from there, and that is up. Texas football is now trending up even higher than it was for most of the 2018 regular season. Combine that with the excitement surrounding the program after the Allstate Sugar Bowl victory over Georgia and things are really starting to boil up.

Moreover, this is such a relief that the Horns got some positive news coming out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. This move from McCoy to the Forty Acres is far from complete. But, most sources seem convinced that McCoy is set to make his way to campus within the week. Adam Maya of USC Rivals was one of the first credible sources to bring about this report.

The director of recruiting coverage for USC 247Sports, Chris Swanson, also reported that McCoy was set to transfer from USC and land in Austin, TX, within the week.

However, the Horns have to keep the focus on spring camp, especially with how much of a talent infusion is making its way to the Forty Acres this off-season. Spring camp is going to be an exciting time for the Horns and the fan base.

Head Texas football coach Tom Herman has the task of fitting McCoy at his most opportune position. That will either be at wideout or linebacker. With so much talent coming in at both positions, it’s hard to tell which would be best for the 6-foot-2 and 205 pound Mater Dei High School product McCoy.
