With the shallow cornerback class that encompasses the 2019 NFL Draft, a ton of attention fell on potential risers in the three biggest showcase games thus far. The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and East-West Shrine Game didn’t give us much insight into players who could be quick risers up 2019 NFL Draft boards.

This is where the Senior Bowl is going to be incredibly important for a cornerback that is trending up now like the former Temple Owls standout Rock Ya-Sin to have a big week. This 6-foot-2 and 190 pound cornerback has the prototypical size and physical tools that NFL scouts are searching for at the position.

It was difficult for Ya-Sin to get a lot of exposure during his time at Temple. Not only is the MAC a run-heavy conference that emphasizes the front seven, the cornerbacks that are solid get looked off all the time. That fell to the detriment to Ya-Sin who still managed to register 47 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and 12 pass deflections in 2018.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Ya-Sin was one of the defensive backs that “hit the ground running” during the week of Senior Bowl workouts and worked his way up draft boards. Ya-Sin has the measurables and physical tools to be an early round selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, but he still needs a solid showing during this game itself.
