We have arrived at the first former Texas Longhorns football standout on this list that could have a big 2019 Senior Bowl. Former Texas physical cornerback Kris Boyd is one of the more talented at his position in this class, and had one of the better latter halves to the 2018 season. He rounded out the 2018 campaign with 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and 15 pass deflections.

Moreover, Boyd has the ability to develop into one of the better cover corners in this 2019 NFL Draft defensive back class. There’s a few kinks from his time on the Forty Acres that he needs to iron out during the events leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft. Boyd’s ceiling is higher than most in this cornerback class, though.

The 2019 NFL Draft stock for Boyd fluctuated between the third and sixth rounds of late. CBS Sports ranks Boyd as the sixth best cornerback in this class, but that is relatively high compared to a few other NFL Draft coverage outlets. Drafttek is another site that is high on Boyd, but his stock is falling with them.

What Boyd needs to do in this year’s Senior Bowl is prove that the deficiencies that were frustrating to watch for the Texas fans and consistency plagued him could be behind him now. Issues like getting beat over the top, over-committing at the line of scrimmage, and mistiming jumps are a few examples.
