Texas Football: Re-ranking Horns 5 best 2019 commits post-Bru McCoy transfer
After Bru McCoy left the USC Trojans to join the Texas football program this month, there’s two five-star 2019 early enrollees on campus for spring camp.
The 2019 Texas football recruiting class added its highest rated commit of the class within the past week to cap a month of January that was a memorable one. In all likelihood, the month of February won’t be as lucrative as January was for Texas football recruiting. But, that’s fine if the 2020 Texas football recruiting class gets off to a solid start following a top three ranked 2019 class.
At this point of the 2019 recruiting cycle, this class for Texas football ranks at No. 3 in the nation, per 247Sports Team Composite Rankings. Texas football also ranks as the top 2019 recruiting class in the Big 12 for this cycle, just ahead of the rival Oklahoma Sooners. It would take a lot for the Sooners to jump Texas football in the Big 12 recruiting rankings before National Signing Day too.
However, there was a big jump in the national class rankings for Texas football for the 2019 class thanks mainly to ranking shifts for individual commits and/or signees and the acquisition of five-star California native athlete Bru McCoy. That led to the jump for Texas football from a borderline top eight or 10 class in the nation into the top three, just behind the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Here’s a look at the definitive re-ranking of the five best commits and/or signees in the 2019 Texas Longhorns football recruiting class after the transfer of former USC Trojans early enrollee Bru McCoy.
