This isn’t necessarily a list of the 2019 Texas football signees that can make an immediate impact this coming season. Instead, it encompasses a whole bunch of factors which mainly emphasizes talent level and potential. It is difficult for the wideouts in this class to qualify too much as players that can make some valuable early contributions.

Yet, there is a host of skill position talent in this recruiting class that can make an immediate impact for Herman and third-year offensive coordinator Tim Beck, depending on how they use these incoming recruits. Two of them, in particular, do have elite speed and an electric playmaking ability that will shine through as soon as this coming season.

What five-star Cuero, TX, elite wide receiver Jordan Whittington showed in the state playoffs with Cuero High School was nothing short of spectacular. Whittington won nearly every award possible in his high school state title game, including offensive and defensive MVP. He totaled a whopping seven offensive touchdowns and racked up double-digit tackles on defense.

The much deserved ratings bump for Whittington slid him up among the nation’s top 35 2019 high school prospects and the second “athlete”. He was reclassified in the 247Sports rankings as an athlete, but his role should be similar to what former Texas football standout and a 2019 NFL Draft early entrant wideout Lil’Jordan Humphrey did for the last two years.
