Some recent momentum generated for offensive line prospects on the recruiting trail for Texas football could continue with 2021 OT Nolan Rucci.

The 2021 Texas football recruiting class is looking to do something that started for the 2018 and 2019 recruiting cycles. The success for head Texas football coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand on the recruiting trail for the 2018 and 2019 classes could bring unprecedented talent and depth to the offensive line in the coming years.

A lot of turnover from experienced starting offensive linemen this off-season is set to usher in a new era of talent and depth across the board for this position group. Texas football is set to lose four seniors that were regular starters along the offensive line. Texas football can try to make up for those losses for the 2020 and 2021 cycles.

Offering a prospect like Lititz, PA, Warwick High School offensive tackle Nolan Rucci to the 2021 Texas football recruiting class is a good way to bring potent talent to the line and the Forty Acres. Rucci received his offer from the Texas Longhorns on Jan. 31, to add to a growing list of schools that sent him one.

Texas football is one of 11 schools to offer Rucci. A good portion of his nearly one dozen offers came from Big Ten schools, since that’s the region of the country which he hails from. A few of the other notable offers that came Rucci’s way thus far came from the Michigan Wolverines, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

This is the type of prospect that is fantastic for head Texas football coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand to jump on early. If teams as solid on the ground and stout on the offensive line as Michigan and Notre Dame are getting in on Rucci early in his recruitment, it’s a great trend to follow.

This 6-foot-8 offensive tackle is a prospects that looks great on film. He’s fleet of foot for his size and contains an overwhelming amount of strength compared to the level of competition he’s facing in Pennsylvania.

Texas football could be fighting an uphill battle against Big Ten programs to get the commitment from Rucci when it’s all said and done. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions and Rivals FutureFanCast both give the early edge to Penn State to nab the pledge from Rucci.

The amount of time left to make an impact on Rucci from a program like Texas football is still very much abundant. Penn State does appear to have the early lead in landing his commitment, but that’s a weak link in the grand scheme of things. Rucci received his offer from Penn State on Sep. 29, the same day as his last unofficial visit.
