4. Jaxson Hayes doesn’t miss a field goal attempt

We’ve made this bold prediction for Texas basketball and freshman sensation forward Jaxson Hayes before, and with good reason. Hayes is pretty much exclusively used around the rim and he’s efficient with the ball in his hands. The only continuing issue with Hayes seems to be the personal fouls that he racks up in bunches.

Some good news for Hayes and the Horns is that the game where he tied for the second lowest amount of personal fouls through this entire regular season came in the first meeting against Kansas State. Hayes only posted two personal fouls in 31 minutes on the floor the first time around against the Wildcats which bodes well for tomorrow.

In the last meeting against Kansas State, Hayes was also very close to making all of his field goal attempts. While he did only register nine points in that Big 12 opener, he drained 75 percent of his field goal attempts. Texas could use the same level of efficiency, just in higher volume, in the second meeting against the Wildcats.

Hayes is coming off a game against West Virginia where he was sparsely used and racked up quite a few personal fouls considering the limited playing time. The number of personal fouls for Hayes per 40 minutes (6.3) and per 100 possessions (9.3) are still a huge issue. It is something he needs to iron out in this important Big 12 showdown.
