The growing need at running back for Texas football is a factor the coaching staff can’t ignore at this point of the off-season. Between a few looming departures and the only skilled incoming running back from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class currently dealing with some serious medical issues, the depth at the position doesn’t look too promising for the coming season.

With the departure of a former Cal Golden Bears graduate transfer running back Tre Watson and so many other transfer out of the program, Texas needs some help in the backfield. That could come from the former top JUCO running back prospect in the nation from the 2017 recruiting cycle and junior Nebraska Cornhuskers talent Greg Bell.

Some of the more prominent running back names to his the transfer portal have already committed somewhere, or decided to stay at their current program. But, Bell does seem intent on leaving the Nebraska football program after just one year under new head coach Scott Frost.

The 6-foot and 200 pound running back Bell only played in four games with Nebraska this past season, so he could be eligible for two more seasons still at his next destination. Bringing in a running back that has more than one year of eligibility left could be nice for head Texas football coach Tom Herman.
