If Texas football is able to land a commitment from the nation’s No. 2 2020 dual-threat quarterback out of Missouri City, TX, Malik Hornsby he could become the front runner at the position to win the starting job in the next three or four years.

Hornsby is a more ideal fit for what the Horns do on offense, and he could have a higher ceiling than even someone like Johnson or Card. He is rated higher among the 2020 dual-threat quarterbacks than Card. The Fort Bend Marshall skilled signal caller stands at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds. He could be a more prototypical size under center for the Horns than Johnson too.

The quarterback room would start to get a bit crowded if Hornsby joins the mix, but that doesn’t matter if his interest in coming to the Forty Acres continues to grow. Herman will have to win his interests over from the in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies, though. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favor Texas A&M to nab Hornsby over Texas.

In terms of the quality quarterbacks for the 2020 recruiting cycle that is actually worth putting a ton of focus into and that the coaching staff has a realistic opportunity of winning over, Hornsby is the best that it gets. He is a top 90 2020 high school prospect in the nation and the second best dual-threat that the Horns could find for the 2020 recruiting class.
