Texas Football: 5 extremely pivotal Junior Day visitors
Some of the neighboring states to Texas have fertile recruiting grounds but heavy competition for top prospects too. A prime example of that is with the four-star Alexandria, LA, 2020 defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory who looks set to commit to the LSU Tigers at this point of his recruitment.
Texas football has some work to do if it wants to add to a likely future position of need at defensive tackle come the 2020 off-season. Herman and Orlando didn’t do a great job adding to the talent in the middle of the defensive line through the past two recruiting cycles. Former four-star recruit Keondre Coburn and three-star T’Vondre Sweat were all that got added.
The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have it set that LSU is the far and away early favorite to land the commitment of Guillory. This is a big looming task for the coaching staff to win over more of the interest for this key recruit. One big official visit can have that type of impact on a big time prospect.
This 6-foot-2 and 330 pound defensive line anchor is one of the few high school prospects at this position that have the build to come in and contribute immediately. If there is in fact a positional need for the Horns by the start of the 2020 and 2021 campaigns, having Guillory in the fold will make a huge difference.
