2. Zachary Evans exploding onto the scene

This is the only point or thought here that doesn’t involve a current Texas football player or commit. Since Junior Day is now in the past for the Horns, we can look back on which prospects it had the biggest impact on. Clearly two commits from the weekend were impacted, or already had the idea in mind to commit to Texas.

However, there is one huge Texas 2020 recruiting target that got a big boost in the classifications lately. The ultra highly touted five-star North Shore High School running back Zachary Evans was bumped up in his 247Sports composite ranking to the No. 1 2020 high school prospect in the nation last week.

Since the Horns are one of the favorites to land Evans’ commitment, getting the shot at landing the No. 1 prospect in the nation would be monstrous for this program. The results that Herman is getting on the recruiting trail since taking over a few years back are fantastic. Nothing could match what landing Evans would do for this program.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do favor Evans to land with Texas when it’s all said and done. The only other two programs that the Crystal Ball Predictions have in the running for the pledge from Evans are Texas A&M and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Texas needs to get this commitment.
