The former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray is starting to get some hype as the potential first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 2019 NFL Draft will soon be upon us and the No. 1 overall pick is already a hotly debated topic. With such a strong class of defensive linemen, the course of this first round could be quite out of the ordinary.

Among the hotly debated topics for the 2019 NFL Draft is where Kyler Murray will fall in the first round. There was a frequently discussed situation as to whether Murray would decide to go the route of baseball or football. He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Some rumors have it that Kyler Murray will be the first overall pick in this draft, going to the Arizona Cardinals. It would make some sense for Murray to fall there since he would get to develop under former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

If the Cardinals elect to stick with the former UCLA Bruins quarterback, and 2018 first round selection Josh Rosen, the first player selected at this position could fall a few picks down the board. Day 1 of this draft will be interesting since this isn’t the best year of quarterback talent in recent memory.

The 2020 NFL Draft should be the main source of quarterback talent that we’ve seen since 2017. We could be getting quarterbacks like Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, Georgia’s Jake Fromm, and Oregon’s Justin Herbert declaring for the draft next year. Herbert looked to be one of the headlining names of the 2019 draft until he decided to return to Oregon for one more year.

Here’s a deeper look into five quarterbacks that could all be better selections in the 2019 NFL Draft than the Oklahoma Sooners Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray.
