A good first add to the 2020 Texas football recruiting class on the defensive side of the ball could be 3-star OKC OLB Brynden Walker.

The growing interest for the Texas football program on the recruiting trail mostly started with the 2018 cycle. This 2019 Texas football signing class continued the momentum from the 2018 group, as both ranked No. 3 in the nation. The 2020 Texas football recruiting class is hoping to do much of the same that the fan base saw for the past two cycles.

There are a host of encouraging signs for the 2020 recruiting class early on that the defensive haul could start rolling very soon. This program is sending out a ton of offers within the past month to defensive high school prospects for the 2020 cycle.

All that head Texas football coach Tom Herman can do at this point is build the bonds he has with existing defensive prospects he’s offered and continue to distribute some more as the recruiting cycle moves along. A good move for Herman and Texas football was to send an offer to Oklahoma native three-star outside linebacker Brynden Walker to round out the month of February.

The odds that the Horns land a prospect like Walker are pretty good. This is always an important position for Texas football to keep the depth rolling in too for defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. Texas football added four linebackers in the 2019 signing class.

Texas football could use the addition of an underrated linebacker like Walker. But, the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do favor the Big 12 foe Oklahoma State Cowboys and head coach Mike Gundy to land Walker at this point. If Herman and the Horns make a good enough run at Walker, he could wind up swaying some interest over to the Forty Acres.

Moreover, the offer to Walker that came from the 2020 Texas football recruiting came on Feb. 27. He received his offer from the Horns on the same day that he got one from the Kansas State Wildcats. The bulk of the offers for Walker came from the Big 12, at least more so than any other conference.

Some of the other notable offers that Walkers holds came from the Minnesota Golden Gophers, SMU Mustangs, and Vanderbilt Commodores. His Big 12 offers are from the Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Texas.

Walker ranks as the nation’s No. 693 2020 high school prospect and the eighth best out of the state of Oklahoma. He hails from Oklahoma City, OK, and is a product of Bishop McGuinness High School. This 6-foot-2 and 220 pound outside linebacker is one of the more physical three-star prospects you will ever come across too at the position.

A few other factors that Walker brings to the table includes a sure-tackling ability that is hard to find among three-star outside linebackers and a natural knack for picking apart plays at the line of scrimmage. His high school highlights show a pretty high football IQ for a junior linebacker. You do have to take some of his tendencies at Bishop McGuinness with a grain of salt since it is 5A.
