1. Brings valuable experience back to the locker room

Building off the point of how much Ramey rose to the occasion of late for the Texas basketball program, the valuable proven experience that Roach Jr. brings to this team is huge. Roach Jr. can be a streaky volume scorer, but he is surely able to bring some type of stability to this locker room and on the court when it matters most.

Roach Jr. saw his fair share of ups and downs during the tenure of Smart on the Forty Acres over the past four years. He knows what it takes to reach at least the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament since he has gone through so many letdowns in the past few seasons. Texas also needs someone like him to push them to a new level in the Big 12 Tournament.

All season, when Texas is getting solid performances out of its senior leaders with Roach Jr. and Osetkowski, things tended to go its way in the win column. It’s showing of late how detrimental it can be when Osetkowski and Roach either aren’t present in the first place or are pretty much non-existent on the court.

Osetkowski only played 21 minutes on the floor in the loss to Texas Tech yesterday, while managing just seven points. Getting only seven points out of Osetkowski while Roach Jr. is out of the lineup completely is hard to recover from considering the absence of other upperclassmen.
