2. Larry Fedora

Possibly the biggest splash hire for Texas football so far this off-season came by landing Larry Fedora. Texas has either worked with or hired a few former Power Five head coaches since the end of the 2018 regular season. This could be somewhat of a new trend that emerges with blue bloods building up like the Horns.

Larry Fedora is one of the more interesting offensive minds to dissect in college football nowadays. His offensive schemes are constantly evolving and changing, which could’ve ultimately played to his detriment in Chapel Hill. In more of a limited role where he could really work on refining and adding creativity to his already complex offensive scheme could be the perfect scenario for Larry.

It seemed like Larry Fedora just wasn’t able to properly adjust the complexity of his offensive scheme to the personnel he had in the fold for the past two years with the Tar Heels. His offenses were two young and inexperienced due to a few big and unfortunate waves of injuries, but he wasn’t able to adapt his playbook to get those players to excel.

Larry Fedora is a coach that very much likes to keep his offenses balanced and opposing defenses on their toes. His scheme worked out quite well at first during his time in Chapel Hill as some of his UNC offenses previous to 2017 were some of the best in the ACC. He could have the biggest impact on the recruiting trail and by adding to the playbook for the Horns this year among the analyst hires thus far.
