What’s to come for Texas coaching staff

Could there be anymore additions on the way for the coaching staff for the Texas football program this off-season? That is a question that a lot of the more intense fans on the Forty Acres thought might be answered at the outset of this off-season. Herman frequently stated that there would be stability and continuity on the coaching staff this year.

What’s so impressive about what Herman did to keep that promise is that there really wasn’t any turnover in the coaching staff, just some additions and promotions. Texas looks to be revamping its analyst program to keep pace with some of the other programs in the Big 12, and the likes of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide.

For a while now, Ohio State and Alabama were the premier places to land for assistants and analysts looking to get their career back on track or springboard somewhere else. Texas looks to be building to that status, which makes sense given the current state of this program.

The name that kept getting brought up among the potential analyst hires for the Horns this year is the former Kansas Jayhawks head coach David Beaty. Since letting him go and hiring former LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles, Kansas turned its program to a different direction and Beaty even helped the Horns prepare for the Red River rematch in the Big 12 Championship Game against the Oklahoma Sooners this past December.
