Other possible destinations

Since he decommitted from Texas football, Cooper took an unofficial visit with the Illinois Fighting Illini and head coach Lovie Smith and received an offer from head coach Clay Helton and the USC Trojans. That offer from USC is No. 28 for him amid a growing offer sheet that could have more schools interested now that Cooper opened up his recruitment.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favor Illinois to get the commitment of Cooper over the Horns now. It seems like his recent visit to Urbana-Champaign, IL, had a pretty big impact on his final commitment decision. He also has a number of former high school teammates like former four-star linebacker Shammond Cooper joined up with the Fighting Illini.

Newly offered schools like USC and programs he took recent visits with like Illinois and the Georgia Bulldogs could play a big role in Cooper’s recruitment moving forward. Illinois is the clear favorite right now, and other programs like Texas and Georgia should continue to play a role in his recruitment.

A few of the other notable programs that offered Cooper thus far includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Tennessee Volunteers. His incredible foot speed and versatility certainly caught on with some of the nation’s top programs already.
