Texas Football: 5 Longhorns worth watching amid spring camp
With spring camp quickly upon us, starting this week, who are the five players set to watch for the Texas football fans through the next few weeks?
This is an exciting time of year for the Texas football program before spring camp officially begins. We got to witness some college football again on the Forty Acres after a few months of reflecting on what happened in the season previous. Texas football did have a nice finish to the 2018 campaign with an Allstate Sugar Bowl victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on New Year’s Day.
However, it doesn’t seem like a little more than three months past since the last time this Texas football team took the field. Now, we’re a little more than a month away from this team taking the field again at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for game action for the final time before the fall comes around.
The spring football game for the Texas football program is set for April 13 at 7:30 p.m. CT at DKR. After that, the next time that the Texas Longhorns football team will take the field at DKR is on Aug. 31 to face the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in the 2019 regular season opener.
In fact, three of the first four games of the 2019 season come at home. The other of the first four games for Texas football is technically a home game at a neutral site, played at the home of the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium against the Rice Owls. Granted, Rice’s campus is in Houston, TX, so that’s not really a huge home game for the Horns.
Nonetheless, spring camp will come with a ton of looming storylines for one of the building blue bloods for the 2019 campaign. Here’s a deeper look into the five players to watch for the Texas Longhorns football program for spring camp.
